Jett-Set (for Retirees)

JETT-SET (Just Enjoying Time Together - Socializing, Eating, Traveling) is the committee working with and for Retirees and Senior Citizens.  Below are listed two of the recurring activities held each month. 

MONTHLY LUNCHEON (See photos below)

Jett-Set Luncheon is held on the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. in Pioneer Hall. Please call in your reservation to the church office at 874-2531. Anyone interested in attending is more than welcome. Though there is no actual charge, a donation basket is available to help defray the expense. A Registered Nurse is generally on hand to do blood pressure checks.

The next Jett Set Luncheon is on Thursday, February 2 at 11 am in Pioneer Hall. 

JETT-SET TRAVELS (See photos below)

Each month the Jett-Setters take a one-day trip. Though designed for Retirees, these trips are open to anyone interested, based on availability of seating. Reservations must be made through the church office (874-2531) and in some cases require advance payment. In addition, bring some money for lunch and your share of the bus fee. Usual departure time is 8:30 and return time is about 4 PM.

Thursday February 9 the Jett-Set trip is to see the Mummies Display at Discovery Place in Charlotte. A limited number of tickets are available and cost $16 each which must be paid for when making the reservations in the office. The bus will leave the church parking lot at 8 AM.

Friday March 2 Join us on Friday, March 2, for our trip to the Southern Spring Show in Charlotte. The cost is $7.50 per person. Please sign up early.

                          Trip to Wilkes Museum and Whippoorwill Village

We traveled to Wilkesboro for a guided tour of the Wilkes Heritage Museum. After lunch we visited the Whippoorwill Village in Ferguson, which included the Whippoorwill Academy (a one-room schoolhouse), a Daniel Boone replica cabin, the Tom Dooley Museum, the Smoke-house Art Gallery, and a blacksmith shop, among many more things of interest.
