Christian EducationCHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS Sunday School schedule and location of classes - All classes begin at 9:45 Room NEW PRESCHOOL MINISTRY The goal of the Preschool Extended Session is to build a ministry for children 3 years-1st grade. During the 11 am worship hour, children 3 years-1st grade will follow in worship with their parents. After the children’s sermon, they have the option to come downstairs for a small program called "Friends of Jesus.” The children will enjoy a devotional story and also learn about the people in the Bible whether through song, a DVD, or craft. God is in the church nursery, and we want all our young children to discover God. “And Jesus took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” (Mark 9:36-37) When you welcome a child in the name of Jesus, you welcome Jesus himself. When we minister to children -- God is with us. PRAY! Pray for families in this church and those in the community without a church home. Never underestimate the power of praying to God for help in making this ministry grow.
WEDNESDAY EVENING FAMILY AND FRIENDS PROGRAM Please note that the Children’s Choirs will continue to practice each Wednesday evening in January from 5pm-5:30pm. ACTS STUDY CONTINUATION The Wednesday evening adult Bible study on the Book of Acts will resume at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 1st at Acts, Chapter 21. An added feature of our study this winter will be the opportunity to view a DVD travelogue of historic sites and regions covered in the missionary journeys of the apostles. This audio visual resource is a six DVD set entitled “The Christian Traveler”, published by Reader’s Digest. Join us even if you are new to the class! We look forward to seeing you there! Children will be picked up from Valdese Elementary After School Day Care at 4:30 and brought to the church for choir and the rest of the evening’s programs. Parents will need to make arrangements for them to be in the After School Program or make other arrangements for them to get to the church. Children and adults from the community will be invited to participate as well. With the arrival of Mike Sears, the Associate Pastor, we hope to have some fresh and exciting ideas for him to help us get off the ground. Above are some of the participants in the Disciple IV class which began the last Tuesday in August. "The study includes the writings (ex. Proverbs, Ecclesiastes), John, and Revelation among other scriptures.
